After much waiting, Xiaomi has launched finally launched their beard trimmer in India. In this post, we are going to tell you all about the trimmer, its features, its price in India, and compare it with some of the other popular Philips, Panasonic, and other trimmers to see how it stacks up.
First, let us talk about what you get in the box. Inside the Xiaomi Beard Trimmer box, you get 2 trimming combs, one of which already be attached on the trimmer, the trimmer itself, a charging cable, a cleaning brush, and soft felt carry pouch.
Coming to the design of the trimmer, the trimmer is designed in Xiaomi style, it consists of mostly straight lines, and it is not curved like many other trimmers from other brands.
The material is a soft-touch matte plastic, which has a great grip, so that there is little chance of the trimmer slipping out of your hand. The overall design is comfortable and ergonomic to use.
The overall design is pretty simple and easy to understand as well. You have a turnkey dial on the front to make length adjustments, an on-off power switch on the front, and 3 led charging and battery indicators on the front. The charging port is at the bottom of the trimmer, which isn’t a surprise.
Xiaomi Trimmer Features
Now, coming to the features of the Xiaomi Beard Trimmer. The trimmer consists of self-sharpening, stainless steel blades with a cutter width of 30mm. The teeth of the blade are non-scratching to make them skin friendly.
On the trimming front, the Xiaomi trimmer has a trimming range of 0.5mm to 20 mm with a total of 40 length settings. The trimming range is on par with the best trimmers out there, but the number of precisions is the best we’ve seen on any trimmer. The blades move at 6000 oscillations per minute giving you a great trimming experience.
An important thing to note about the trimming is that the dial itself moves for 20 settings, and the 40 steps are achieved with the combs. The smaller comb can be used for a trimming length of 0.5mm to 10mm length, and the larger one can be used for a length of 10.5mm to 20mm.
The battery life of the Xiaomi Trimmer is impressive as well. For a charging time of 2 hours or 120 minutes, you get a trimming time of 90 mins. It does not beat some Philips trimmers, but it is still quite good. Another benefit is the quick charge mode, where you can get 10 minutes of trimming in just 5 minutes of charging. An added benefit is that you can always use the trimmer while you’re charging it, for wired and wireless trimming experience.
A charging voltage of 110-240V is supported, so you can use and charge the trimmer anywhere in the world.
For the charging, you have a USB type A to a charging port cable that you can plug in anywhere, even in a power bank. But, there is no adaptor included. You will have to use a spare one lying around or use your computer or power bank to charge the trimmer.
Xiaomi Trimmer Travel Lock
A unique feature that the Xiaomi Trimmer has that no other trimmer has is the Travel Lock. Since the Xiaomi trimmer can be turned on a push of a button, it is easy to trigger it in your luggage accidentally. To avoid that, you can use the trimmer lock.
You lock the trimmer by pressing the power button for 3 seconds.
[i]And then unlock the trimmer again by pressing it for 3 seconds. The trimmer should start automatically when you unlock it.
Xiaomi Trimmer Water Proofing
This is another feature where the Xiaomi Trimmer leaves other trimmers in the dust. It is the first trimmer which has an IPX7 rating for the complete trimmer. Other trimmers have washable heads, and you have to remove the head from the trimmer body to wash them, but with the Xiaomi Trimmer, you can quickly run it under the tap to wash.
Xiaomi Trimmer Warranty
This is the part where the Xiaomi trimmer gets left behind. While Philips and other brands offer 2, or even 3 years warranty, the Xiaomi Trimmer has just a 1-year warranty.
